Mary Jermy (ca. 1660 - 1738)
A framed oil painting, size 63 x 76 cm. Marks on the painting indicate that it was at one time in an oval frame.
Mary is shown with dark brown hair and hazel eyes. She is wearing a green dress with a flame coloured cloak and a pearl earring. She is holding an orange blossom. According to tradition, Mary Jermy was painted in the gown which she wore when she had an audience with Queen Anne.
The painting was owned by the Rev. Frank S Bennett (1866 - 1947), the Dean of Chester.
